I Can See!, I Can See!
To those of you I told and those of you I have not told, I was having LASIK eye surgery for hyperopia (farsightedness). I am the first one in New York State to have this surgery because it is being studied for FDA approval. It is quite common for nearsightedness, but this is a breakthrough in eye care for those of us who are aging baby boomers.
The second eye was done yesterday, and today I am already seeing 20/25! As an unexpected bonus, I can even read close without glasses. That may change. The procedure (excimer laser LASIK surgery) was quick and painless. Even after the anesthetic wore off, I was not uncomfortable. As my doctor, Dr. Barrie Soloway, mentioned that the eye heals faster when it is closed, I went home and slept as much as I could the first six (most important) hours. This procedure is a breeze.
I can now see perfectly without glasses. The only disappointment was when I looked in the mirror and discovered that I don't look like Cindy Crawford. Oh well!! She may be gorgeous, but .... LOL
Anyway, that is my exciting news.
