Return to Vista in the news

Fox on Health

Dr. Barrie Soloway, Surgical Director of Vista Alliance Eye Care Associates and Director of the Autonomous LADARvision Center of Excellence at the New York Eye & Ear Infirmary's Vision Correction Center, appeared on the national cable program:

Fox on Health

on March 20 and March 21, 1999 to discuss SRP surgery, a new breakthrough procedure which eliminates the need for reading glasses or bifocals. Currently, Dr. Soloway is the only ophthalmologist on the East Coast who is allowed to conduct FDA clinical trials for SRP. Anchor Carol Iovanna interviewed Dr. Soloway and his patient Bob Gallagher, a Manhattan real estate agent and actor, who first received this surgery in February.

Dr. Soloway explained to Carol that by the time we're 50 years old, those of us who are seeing well for distance vision, will need reading glasses.  Careful to mention that SRP is not laser surgery, Dr. Soloway added, "I place implants into the white part of the dominant eye which provides the lens with more room to work."

The surgery, which lasts approximately 45 minutes, costs $5,000, said Dr.  Soloway. Recuperation is amazingly quick—within a couple of days. Bob Gallagher, Dr. Soloway's patient, experienced a dramatic recovery. Within hours, Bob read very fine print—something he was unable to do before surgery.

"As an actor," he told Carol, "I couldn't go to auditions. It was paralyzing for me.  The operation was well worth it, and there was absolutely no pain at all."

If you wear reading glasses, and you would like to participate in these FDA clinical studies to correct presbyopia, or if you would like to see a copy of this and other television segments in which Dr. Soloway has appeared, please call toll-free 1-888-NYLASIK.

If you don't want to be dependent on glasses or contact lenses call Vista Alliance Eye Care Associates, The New York LASIK doctors toll free at 1-888-NYLASIK (1-888-695-2745) for more information on any of our Vision Correction procedures (LASIK, INtacs, ICL or SRP), to schedule a personal evaluation to help you determine the right prodecure for you, or to register for one of our classes or  seminars
