"Good Day New York" WNYW TV Fox channel 5, New York, NY
Dr. Barrie Soloway of Vista Alliance Eye Care Associates, brought LASIK laser eye surgery home to viewers...literally. Dr. Soloway is the first surgeon to perform four LASIK laser vision correction eye surgeries back-to-back during a live broadcast from the laser operating suite. "Good Day New York" reporter Larry Hoff, witnessed the event along with millions of viewers on October 9.
His patients, an eye doctor, Dr. Matthew Watson, and Jacqueline Fopiano, a nurse, had nearsighted vision. Dr. Watson's vision was so poor, it ended at around four inches from his face. "It's been 20 years of not seeing anything clearly." What's worse, is that Dr. Watson couldn't wear contact lenses because of his severe allergies and dry eyes.
Apprehensive at first, Jacqueline Fopiano told Larry Hoff, "Sure I'm nervous. But, I want to see. I'm still very eager to have the surgery performed because I've been wearing glasses since I was five. I want to get along differently in my life."
After the surgery, which took a matter of minutes for each patient the results were nothing short of miraculous. In no time, both patients who once suffered from myopia (nearsightedness) were reading the cover of Entertainment Weekly in the office waiting room.
If you wear glasses, or contact lenses and would like to be less dependent upon them, or if you would like to see a copy of this and other television segments in which Dr. Soloway has appeared, please call toll free 1 (888) NYLASIK.
