"Good Day New York" WNYW TV Fox channel 5, New York, NY
Dr. Barrie Soloway of Vista Alliance Eye Care Associates was on a July 8 segment of "Good Day New York" with Lynn Brown where he discussed LASIK laser eye surgery for farsightedness. Dr. Soloway is the only physician in New York State to offer this new, cutting-edge surgery, in clinical trials, for farsighted people.
On the program Lynn Brown asks Dr. Soloway how the LASIK laser eye surgery works for people with hyperopia (farsightedness).
"We've upgraded our laser to be a third generation laser. For nearsighted people, the surgery is done with the laser in a stationary position. For farsightedness, the laser is scanning the peripheral portion of the eye in order to steepen the cornea, which allows you to focus better."
Dr. Soloway tells Lynn Brown that the surgery, while in clinical trials, is extremely safe, and should be approved by the FDA within a matter of months.
Says Dr. Soloway, "We're looking for people who are 35 years or older, who are farsighted, and who have a prescription of +1 to +4 range."
