In fact, our surgeon, Dr. Barrie Soloway Director of Vision Correction at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary has been featured regularly in the news for his contributions to vision correction surgery. When eye doctors, laser center technicians and staff, laser and keratome company executives and their families have vision correction surgery, they choose Dr. Soloway as their surgeon due to his excellent results!
Visx, the leading manufacturer of excimer lasers for refractive surgery has recognized Dr. Soloway as a "Visx Star Surgeon" since 1998. This honor is reserved for their top laser surgeons in the United States. Additionally, his excellent results during and after clinical trials of hyperopia (farsigthedness) with and without astigmatism have been recognized by the International Society of Refractive Surgeons.
Alcon/Summit/Autonomous, manufacturers of the high resolution, small spot, LADARVision tracking laser has awarded Dr. Soloway a position in the Summit/Autonomous Society, and chose him as the director of their Northeast USA Center of Education in LASIK at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. His original research in 1999 with large optical zone treatments and this laser in patients with larger pupils has helped to eliminate a frequent cause of glare and halo. This data was published in February 2001 in the first wavefront guided laser textbook for surgeons "Customized Corneal Ablation: The Quest for Supervision" by Slack publishing.
